Arlene wants to randomly chhose one of 12 rows to sit in. how can she do this?

A) Roll a number cube.
B) Flip a coin.
C) Flip a coin twice.
D) Flip a coin and roll a number cube.

Please help me with this question.

I think D. Because you can put the rows into groups for example row 1 and row 2 is one group etc. You will have 6 groups in total. There are 6 sides on a die. So then when you roll the die you are narrowed down to two rows. Flip a coin to choose between row A and row 2.

Hope this helped

a number cube has 6 possible outcomes

a coin has 2

together they have 12 possible combined outcomes ... 6 * 2

Thank you Scott and Victoria. I really helped me to understand.

To randomly choose one of the 12 rows to sit in, Arlene can use option A) Roll a number cube.

Here's how she can do it:
1. Assign a number from 1 to 12 to each row.
2. Roll a number cube, which is a six-sided die numbered from 1 to 6.
3. If the number rolled is between 1 and 6, Arlene can choose the corresponding row.
- For example, if she rolls a 1, she can choose row 1. If she rolls a 2, she can choose row 2, and so on.
4. If the number rolled is 7 or higher, Arlene can reroll until she gets a number between 1 and 6.
- For example, if she rolls a 7 initially, she can reroll until she gets a number between 1 and 6.

By rolling a number cube, Arlene can ensure a fair and random selection among the 12 rows.
