Compare and contrast your Independent Reading selection with one or two other selections you have read in this unit. Support your response with at least two pieces of evidence from your Independent Reading selection. Be sure to give the title and author of your selection.

My independent reading section is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. I will be comparing it to A Christmas Carol. Some similarities all that both have bad and naughty people. In the Christmas carol Scrooge is bad and in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Mike Tevee Violet Beauregarde, Augusta gloop and Veruca Salt are all naughty. In both stories, the ending happy and good people win. One of the major differences with me is that I really liked Chocolate Factory and I didn't like Christmas Carol very much. Charley and the Chocolate Factory is more of a happy-go-lucky book and A Christmas Carol is kind of a serious sad book. For example, there are all Oompa Loompa that come from a mystical land In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, that like to sing songs and eat cocoa beans.
