Light shining on something has nothing to with gold leaf or gold plate, but it Makes it shine LIKE gold. The connotation differs from the denotation because it contributes to a warm hopeful tone. The use of imagery is basically the author using very descriptive words to emphasize their work.(Third stanza 9-10) "It shall flood with golden splendor/ All the huts of Coraline..." is imagery because it describes the scene in vivid detail. The phrase "golden splendor" rouses am excited tone.

Connexus changes the test answers for a lot of people so don't get mad at people!
I do agree, the answers are randomized ever so often. I recommend to try doing the work yourself. If you are still stuck, you can research each individual answer. I just did the work myself and I received a A on this assignment in particular. Also, the essay question isn't that hard; all you have to do is list the imagery, connotations and denotations from the poem and the evidence on where within the poem supports your claim. I won't give you the whole answer for the essay, however I can give you a head start:
For imagery, list the stanza and lines that help you picture the scene best. I recommend reading stanzas three and for to find this answer.
For connotations and denotations, research their meanings and see which stanza and lines help to show the emotional weight and strict meaning of the phrases used within the poem. I would recommend reading the third stanza to find this.
