Lee built a scale model of his car. The model was

3 inches long. The scale from the model to Lee’s
car was 1 to 60. What was the length of Lee’s car?
A 20 inches
B 57 inches
C 63 inches
D 180 inches

I don't get it please help

But that is not one of the answer choises

The scale is one inch on the model equals 60 inches on the real thing.

If the model is 3 inches long, then multiply 3 * 60 to find the length of the real thing.

Yes, it is.

Well, it should be either 180 inches or 15 ft.

Ok so it is D (180 inches) ?

Ok is not 15 because 3 * 60 is 180 not 15 right?

NO,

because 15 ft equals180 inches.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I did not think of that thanks guys I got my answer

I do it this way: The scale is given 1/60. So, make a proportion, 1" is to 3" as 60" is to X OR 1/60 = 3"/X; therefore, X = 180". If you want it in feet then 180"/12" because [12 inches = 1 foot]. Thus...180 inches/12 inches = 15 feet.

3 inches : x inches = 1 : 60

x = 180 inches
= 15 ft
