Leaves are where a plant makes its food through photosynthesis,flowers contain reproductive organs and for pollination,that is why leaves and flowers are held above .
Since the plant depends on this process " Photosynthesis " for making their own food, the leaf must be held aboved the ground , so that Light Energy and Gases can easily reach them . and it is also important for the plant to have flowers at the end of the stem,because pollination system works better at that point than at the lower point ( under the stem).
This gives a support to the agent of pollination for performing their job well!
