The reference angle is 34 but how do you get that?

  1. 1406º is multiple whole circles (360º each)

    divide by 360º ... 1406 / 360 = 3.90555...

    multiply the whole number part by 360º, and subtract from 1406º

    1406º - 3 * 360º = 326º ... 360º - 326º = 34º
    ... this is a 34º reference angle in Quad IV
