1. What is a reason that the Missouri Compromise did not have lasting effects?

A. It only applied to the lands of the Luisiana Purchase
B. It only applied to the lands of the Mexican Cession
C. It relied on popular sovereignty
D. It limited the number of states that could be admitted per year.

My choice was C, but if it's wrong, could someone possibly send me a link where I can read more about the Missouri Compromise?

  17. The controversial law effectively repealed the Missouri Compromise by allowing slavery in the region north of the 36º 30' parallel. Passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act sparked violence between pro- and anti-slavery settlers in “Bleeding Kansas,” delaying Kansas' admission to the Union.

  49. 10. Sectionalism divided the North and South because of their beliefs on slavery. The Northerners were against slavery; the Southerners wanted it, so they were beyond furious when Abraham Lincoln became president because he opposed slavery along with the North. The northerners were angry because slavery was made legal in all territories. And since the North opposed slavery, they didn't want any more states to become slave states, thus starting the conflict of states rights. This all related to the Civil War because it set the North against the South.
