A rectangular pool is 40 meters long and 30 feet wide. A walkway 3 feet wide surrounds the pool. What is area of the walkaway.

  1. The length of the walkway = 46 and the width of the walkway = 36.

    (46*36) - (40*30) = ?

    Lo = 3 + 40 + 3 = 46 Ft. = Length of outer rectangle.
    Wo = 3 + 30 + 3 36 Ft. = Width of o = uter rectangle.
    Ao = Lo * Wo = 46 * 36 = 1656 Ft^2.

    Ap = 40 * 30 = 1200 Ft^2.

    Ao - Ap = 1656 - 1200 = 456 Ft^2. = Area of walkway.

    L = 2*(3+40+3) + 30 + 30 = 152 Ft. = Length of walkway.
