If he started with x, then

x - x/3 - 12 = x/2

So whats the answer?

So is anyone going to be helpful or shall I search a website that is actually helpful

The real question is who cares

£20

X - x/3 - 12 = x/2

So x/1-x/3- 12 = x/2
(3x-x)/3 -12 = x/2 (equiv by multiplying 3 with x/1)
2x/3 -12=x/2
2x/3-x/2=12
4x/6-3x/6=12
(equiv by multiplying 2 with 2/3 and mul 3 with x/2)
X/6=12, x= 12*6=72.
X=72

1/3rd of 72 is 24 i. e. Given to brother
12 spent fir sister's gift
Half of 72 is 36 left in hand

What is this? This does not help
