100% Ur Welcome

The upper quartile is the median of just the upper half of the data.

Just like the median, its value depends on whether you have an even or odd number of pieces of data.

First place your data in ascending order:

5, 8, 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45

You have 9 pieces of data, which is an odd number, so the median is the middle value, 25.

Now look at just the upper half of the data:
30, 35, 40, 45 (we don't include the median, but we would have done this differently if your original set had an even number of pieces of data).
This upper half has 4 pieces of data, an even number. Hence the median of it (known as the upper quartile) is the average of the two middle pieces of data: 35 and 40.
(35 + 40) / 2 = 37.5

OMG xD That is definitely Defeating the system!

Actually i was making a joke not a harsh comment So Back Off

it still works in 2020

25, 8, 10, 35, 5, 45, 40, 30, 20

What is the lower quartile of the given data set?
can you help me

CREEPER AWW MAN I GOT A 20% lies

The way I learned this was that you would have a certain amount of numbers. Like if there was 12, you'd have three groups: Q1, Q2(Median) and Q3. Generally, you're supposed to order the numbers from least to greatest, and then figure it out from there. It helps to put them into "sections" to break it down easier.

Please, I tried going back and rereading through the lesson but I couldn't find anything. If someone could just explain what an upper quartile is then i can figure out the answer.

Take a look at some of these websites to see if anyone can explain it well so you can do the calculations you need to.
