hi, i need help with solving this equation for "y"

2x+3y=-2

2x+3y=-2
Get y on one side. Subtract 2x from both sides.
2x-2x+3y=-2-2x
combine terms.
3y=-2-2x
Divide both sides by 3.
3y/3 = (-2-2x)/3
y = ??

how do you get -2-2x to divide by 3?

I would just leave it as (-2-2x)/3 but if you wish to divide it, divide each number within the parentheses by 3.
-2/3 -(2/3)x
