A frozen yogurt shop offers scoops in cake cones, waffle cones, or cups. You can get vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, or coffee flavored frozen yogurt. If you order a single scoop, how many outcomes are in the sample space?

Is the answer 3? If not please work this out for me?

  1. The answer is not 3. This is how you do it:
    Vanilla
    Chocolate
    Cake Cones - Strawberry
    Pistachio
    Coffee
    Vanilla
    Chocolate
    Waffle Cones - Strawberry
    Pistachio
    Coffee
    Vanilla
    Chocolate
    Cups - Strawberry
    Pistachio
    Coffee
    This shows that there is 4 outcomes per cone/cups, therefore the answer is 4 x 3 = 12
