Hi I need help with this question. I am not asking for the answer because if not I wont learn like that. I am looking for a good step by step explanation. Thank you.

Solve for x: 5x + 2 = 4x − 9.

The answer is the opposite of positive eleven

I CLEARLY SAID THAT I DON'T WANT THE ANSWER PLEASE STOP GIVING PEOPLE ANSWERS WITHOUT EXPLANATION. WE ALL NEED HELP NOT THE ANSWERS. IF I WANTED THE ANSWER I COULD EASLIY SEARCH IT UP. PLEASE DO NOT POST ON ANY OF MY STUFF AGAIN. THANKS.

Ok sorry that was my brother who put that🤗

5x + 2 = 4x − 9.

Subtract 4x from both sides.
Subtract 2 from both sides.

Solve for x.

i got

1x=x-11

Step by step:

You want the variable "x" on one side.

first: Remove -9 from the right y adding 9 to each side to get:

5x + 11 = 4x

Get the other term with "x" in it by subtracting 5. From both sides. Remember that 5x and 4 x are the same term because the both have x.

11= -1x

Divide both sides by -1 to get x by itself.

-11=x

ugh i don't get itt

PS: You don't need to start with the -9. You can start from either side. For example:

you could have subtracted 2 from both sides to get -11.

5x-11=4x

Then keep going

then i subratct 4x from each side and i get

x=-11 ??

Yes. You're right, Nina.
