    The formula for average acceleration is (change in velocity) divided by (change in time).

    namely (0,0) and (6,30)

    average acceleration = change in velocity / change in time
    = (30-0)/(6-0) (m/s) / s
    = 5 m/s^2

    I suspect a typo in your book
