I can conclude that the once-living organism used to live in water, because of the fact that the fossil is a clam-shell. It became a fossil after it had died. Over time, the clam-shell would get buried in sediment, and eventually become a fossil.
Next time add a bit more detail. It's very important to explain how you got your answer.

The fossils would have been a small creature, to have fit in a clam shell, and it obviously lived in the water. It would have fossilized over time.

Molds and casts are used in paleontology to preserve fossils of once-living organisms. A fossil is a preserved imprint of a once-living organism.
A mold is just an imprint of an object/organism.
A cast is a duplicate of whatever made the mold. A cast can only be made if you have a mold. By filling a mold with a liquid material that will eventually harden, a duplicate of the original once-living organism can be made.
