An experiment was conducted in which many pieces of data were collected. Considering all of the data, the limiting number of significant figures in the experiment was 3 significant figures. One of the values needed in these calculations was the barometric pressure. It was found to be 759.5 torr. What value of the barometric pressure would the student use in doing the calculations?

  1. I use the rule for 0.5 to round to the even number; i.e., I would round to 760 torr. I would round 758.5 to 758.
