  3. Four factors I would consider are food sources, predators, climate and reproduction rate. Are they limited to just food on land and not in the water?

I hope this helps a little more. Thanks for asking.

  8. The four factors are 1. Birth Rate โ€“ The number of births of a sample size per 1000 people per year.
Birth Rates are affected by many factors such as the ability to receive health care, family planning, the use and availability of contraceptives, governmental policies, economic growth, education, social and cultural views, and the use of abortion.

    2. Death Rate โ€“ The number of deaths of a sample of per 1000 people per year.
Death rates are caused by the lack of availability of food and water, lack of education, disease, lack of medical care, suicide, car accidents, crime, war, and government entities.

    3. Immigration โ€“ People entering a country for various reasons.
Pull Factors โ€“ A country offering incentives for immigration, education, social and economic factors.

    4. Emigration โ€“ People leaving a country for various reasons.
Push Factors - Social and economic factors, natural hazard, education opportunities, political instability, war, and others.

  9. The rest of the answer :

Nutria are big-sized semi-aquatic rodents. Nutria were brought into Louisiana back in the 1930s to support the fur farming industry, so we might say that they underwent immigration by force. As the fur markets declined, Nutria found their way into Louisianaโ€™s coastal marshes. I think the population of Nutria exploded primarily because Nutria are perfectly suited to Louisianaโ€™s habitat. Nutria are well-suited to land, and especially water, since they are excellent swimmers. The highly prolific nature of Nutria means that they breed all through the year with high birth rate. Nutria have a litter count that ranges from 1-13, with the average litter at 4.5. Nutria have voracious appetites, which explains the alarming damage they cause. The daily food intake of Nutria adds up to 25% of their total body weight. Nutria are not fussy about their food and they eat almost whatever green that they can reach, be it on land or water. The death rate of Nutria is low because they do not have a realistic threat from predators in Louisiana.

I predict that as Louisianaโ€™s habitat gets gradually depleted of Nutriasโ€™ food resources, Nutria will adopt an aggressive approach and take to human-occupied areas in search of food. Given the wide range of food items that Nutria can eat, I think Nutria will make human food resources a main part of their diet. Should this scenario unfold in reality, then a massive pest problem will be created. To handle this problem, Louisianaโ€™s government might be required to employ extreme eradication measures to drive down Nutria population.
