The image should vividly depict a rusty artifact, symbolizing chemical decomposition, and an iconic chapel scene with sunlight beaming on it, depicting a controversy over Michelangelo's paintings in the Sistine Chapel. Yes! It certainly was! I hope you get to travel to see the chapel and many of the rest of the awe-inspiring sites in the world.

You are very welcome.

Oh nice I bet that was a sight to see! Thank you so much

Taylor, one other reason for damage to the Sistine Chapel ceiling was smoke. Your text may not mention that, but in the era before electricity (most of the life of the chapel) candles and oil lamps were used for light. Accumulation of soot dulled the colors in Michelangelo's work. But Ms Sue is right that well-meaning restorers in the past caused damage.

Is #2 B I read somewhere that they couldn't be viewed but it doesn't give a clear answer in my lesson about this one Thanks

*carbon dioxide exhaled -

I've been in the Sistine Chapel twice. The works were damaged by well-meaning conservators who did not really know how to preserve these paintings.

Some art works are being preserved by making them off limits for tourists. The carbon exhaled by the thousands of tourists threatened to harm the cave paintings of Altamira and Lascaux. Those places have been closed to visitors for years.

As far as I know, closing the Sistine Chapel has not been considered.
