Create an image depicting a museum environment where preservation of artwork is prioritized. Show an eighteenth-century painting displayed in a windowless room with controlled temperature and humidity, keeping it safe from ultraviolet rays. Include a scene where archival materials are being used for preserving artwork. Also, depict the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays on textiles, through visual cues. Show a famous painting on display without any protective glass or ropes, and finally an eleventh-century stone sculpture exhibited in an eye-level, airtight glass case, around which people of various descents and genders are gathered.

1. A curator decides to display an eighteenth-century painting in a windowless room with controlled temperature and humidity. Pick the answer that best describes the reasons for her choice: (1 point)

1)The curator wants to make sure that the temperature and humidity are comfortable for visitors.
2)Keeping the temperature and humidity at a set level will save money.
3)The ultraviolet rays will damage the painting by fading and flaking the paint.
4)Ultraviolet rays will fade the paint pigment and high temperature and humidity will damage the paint.

I CHOSE 4

2. Choose the best definition of the term “archival material.” (1 point)

1)materials that are acid neutral and chemically stable over time, preventing rapid decay
2)materials that can be placed in an archive
3)a special chemical solution that is used to preserve artwork
4)materials that are acidic and chemically stable over time, preventing rapid decay

I CHOSE 3

3. Choose the statement that best describes why textiles should not be exposed to ultraviolet rays: (1 point)1)Ultraviolet rays fade the colors in the fabric.
2)Ultraviolet rays will ignite the threads.
3)Ultraviolet rays fade and weaken the fabric.
4)Ultraviolet rays will weaken the fabric.
CHOSE 3

4. A well-known museum has chosen to display a famous painting without any protective glass or ropes. Choose the best reason for this somewhat risky decision. (1 point)
1)Legal requirements restrict the use of any protective measures.
2)The museum believes it is important to give viewers the opportunity to view the art up close.
3)The museum has a large insurance policy so it isn't worried about potential damage to the painting.
4)Research shows most people will not pay to see artwork behind glass.

I CHOSE 4

5. A museum curator determines that the best way to make an eleventh-century stone sculpture accessible to a wide range of viewers is to (1 point)

1)make sure a museum interpreter is standing by to explain the sculpture for those who are too short to view it.

2)give visitors iPads that allow them to tour the museum virtually, keeping the sculpture totally protected from possible damage.
3)take the sculpture out of the case and allow visitors to handle this ancient work of art.
4)place the sculpture in an eye-level, airtight glass case; include an audio description of the object for blind or reading-disabled visitors.

Another thing to keep in mind, Taylor, is that some small objects (pottery, sculptures, medals, etc.) might easily fit into someone's backpack. Large objects like the "Apollo Belvedere" or Michelangelo's "David" would be very difficult to steal, so might not need to be under glass. And remember that the most famous painting protected behind glass is the "Mona Lisa" in the Louvre. It's been stolen several times, and some idiot is always tempted to draw a mustache on her, so it is very well protected.

Would you think #2 for question 5 then I honestly am confused on this one

thanks sid.v i got an 100%

Bye Bye

You are correct on all but 2. Acid neutral and chemically stable are desirable for "archival material." I'm not sure about people not wanting to seem famous paintings behind glass, so I can't advise on that question. It is usually better to be able to see the art without intervening media, but for the protection of the work, it's sometime necessary.

Mwah! Thanks, got 100%

@Naruto Uzamaki btw its Naruto Uzumaki not Uzamaki but ok- anyways Sid.V is STILL correct. also you people on this site telling others to stop cheating and follow the Jiskha's so called "rules" why are you looking up the answers if your just gonna tell us to stop plus Jiskha was made for people to get help some kids can't think properly and need a little extra help, no one's gonna listen to you so it's pointless to continue telling everyone to stop. Have a great day and stay safe.

bro like the you thank you sid v i love you the you

No, I think #4 is the right answer for question 5. You were right the first time. In this case there is a reason for not wanting people to touch and handle the sculpture. People USUALLY

sorry, hit wrong key...People USUALLY don't touch paintings, but do like to touch sculptures for some reason.

Can people stop just straight up posting the answers and at least give some learning to it? I get some people want answers quickly in case if they have a really busy day else than school, but it can get kind of annoying to just have the straight-up answers without anything to learn, also anonymous, he DID answer them you idiot, he just needed help to make sure he was right because he's probably at a low grade in school right now, he just needed a bit of help, not asking you for straight up answers

OI SID GOT ME A FRICKING 80% but its not is fault i missed clicked :(

dont go complaining in a question that people are cheating cause you looked up the question to find the conversation so dont even

(Reminder) ONLY THANK Anonymous OR Sid. V, ANONYMOUS GAVE ALL THE ANSWERS FIRST AND I GUESS SID GETS SOME BIT OF CREDIT SINCE HE WAS THE SECOND TO POST THEM.
