I have an essay and my topic is "our views of the past change as we mature". So I am stuck on what pieces of evidence I should write about. I am thinking of writing a narrative, and I want my "mature view" to be that the world doesn't evolve around me forever. 1 piece of evidence is very subtle, but powerful, and it is when the other day I was eating chicken, and I did not get to eat the drumsticks like I usually would. Instead, they went to a younger sibling. Now I need one/two more pieces of evidence. Any ideas on life that may have changed your views of something?

  1. I think one important aspect of growing up is to realize that a few things happened before your personal memories begin. One might be that music that was (and continues to be) popular before your favorite contemporary "star" might be worth listening to. That there is a reason why some kinds of music last a very long time, while others are here today and gone tomorrow. The same with books. And the realization that the world is bigger than the people and places you see every day in your own local community, that events outside your own family and school friends can be very important in your life. Someone once said you can't know where you're going until you know where you've been. The past made your world as you know it! (Some people never grow up, but that's another story.)
