What is the actual measurments of your room? My answer Height= 10ft Width=9ft 6 in.

What is the scale that you will use for your scale drawing? 24=1 inch
What will the dimensions of your room be in your scale drawing? I don't know how to answer this question. Please help me.

Could it be 3.05cm*2.90cm?

Inches? feet? centimeters? Huh??

My teacher said that 10ft 9 ft 6inces is right and she said the scale would be 24=1inch

But, I don't know what the dimensions will be, maybe 3.05 cm*2.90cm?

It's supposed to be a scale drawing for my actual room but I need to make it smaller. But i don't know what dimensions to use.

Please, Ms. Sue, I just lost my aunt and I can't figure this out. Math is really hard for me and im getting stressed.

For dimensions, length, width, and height are the dimensions I believe.

"A dimension is a measure in one direction, such as the length, width, or height of a figure." ~Math Glossary

To help make things easier, I converted the feet into inches, and then for the width, I added 6in to that amount.

10ft = 120in

9 = 108in = 108in + 6in = 114in

In order to make it smaller, you can convert inches into centimeters.

120in = 304.8cm

114in = 289.56cm

I hope this helps? :)

P.S. I am kind of confused with this stuff, so I am just trying the best I can here.

Thanks for trying Brady i'll try what you said. Miss talking to you:)

By the way would that mean 304.8ch*289.56cm?

Why did you change feet and inches to centimeters?

You're welcome, Callie. :)

I am still working on it, and still researching how to do dimensions.

At first, I was thinking the surface area(also 3D or three dimensions.) equation of: V = l x w x h. It didn't seem to work, but I got confused right after that.

Because, dimensions have to get smaller. Right??

This is the hardest one ive had yet. I'm just getting stuck would the dimensions just be 144 and 120 my teacher said 9ft 6 in is 114 inches, Then she said to set a proportion as 24/1=144/x and cross mulitply to get 4.75 So this wall in your drawing will be 4.75 inches long. Do the same to figure out your other wall and the intems in your room 24/1=120x since 120 inches is 100 feet solve x and I get 5. So would it be 4.75 and 5? Im really confused.

would it be 4.75 and 5?

Well Ms. Sue, I was just going off of what Callie said about making the dimensions smaller. I am still working on it, so it is going through a trial and error time period.

For you Callie, your way that your teacher said about the proportions to find the dimensions is correct.

I just looked it up, and it seems to work.

I tried two methods. I don't know which one is correct though.

1/24 = 120/x

Cross multiply:

1x = 2,880

x = 2,880in

24/1 = x/120

Cross multiply:

24x = 120

divide both sides by 24.

x = 5

I believe the second method is correct, so don't really pay much attention to the first one.

So, if you do the second method with "24/1=144/x" as well, I believe that you are correct for 4.75 and 5.

I hope this helps? :)

P.S. Sorry if this is a little later that thought. I was working on it with the typing.

Also, since this is still probably very confusing, I know one site that can help you with proportions and dimensions.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy has videos about how to do things, and I saw some links about proportions and dimensions. It's free to use, and you don't have to be a member. It also takes a little bit to figure out where everything is, and how it works.

I hope the website helps! :)

P.S. I can't post links, so I just gave you a description. The website has helped me tons of times before.

I know about khan academy I use it all the time. But this is very hard.

Yeah, this seems to be a very hard problem. It has been a long time since I had to deal with these type of problems, so I had to learn most of it again.

However, I believe the proportion usage works out pretty well for the problem.

You've both made this harder than necessary. There is no reason to convert to centimeters.

24 inches = 1 foot

10 feet = 120 inches
9 feet, 6 inches = 114 inches

120 / 24 = 5 inches
114 / 24 = 4 3/4 inches

In your scale drawing, your room will be 5 by 4 3/4 inches

Can you help me with the one I just posted?

My teacher said to do centimetres. And my teacher said to use 24 inches=1inch

In that case, 5 inches would equal 12.7cm, and 4.75 inches would equal 12.065cm. If you want rounded, 13 by 12 would be good.

P.S. You should probably go with Ms. Sue. She is correct, and she makes more sense.

Can't you text me because I don't understand. 😲

I'm sorry, I don't have a cellphone..... My parents haven't allowed me to get one yet.... :/

Anyways, I have to go, so I will help you later or tomorrow.

Don't fret. Take a deep breath. You all are over thinking it. Yes v=lxwxh. Take the original numbers of the problem and multiply them together. Then if its to big divide by 3.
