Determine how each multiplication or division pattern is formed. Then write the next two numbers

a) 81, -27, 9 ...

b) 5, -20, 80...

  1. (a) each term is -1/3 the previous term
    (b) each term is -4 times the previous term

    Just take the first two terms and find their ratio. Then check to make sure the same ratio is there for the next two terms, and so on.
