Effects of Wind on Speed of Sound
the speed of sound in air is given for still air. how would wind affect the speed? what would happen if you shouted into the wind?
1 answer
In general, the speed of sound with wind is speed in still air + speed of wind. So shouting with the wind at your back means the speed is increased; shouting with the wind in your face means sound to your front is decreased speed.
