  4. Thank you so much Sra. Is there an easier way to remember that words like gente is feminine? I am used to the "o" and "a" signaling me towards a certain gender.

  5. About the only thing to do is to memorize the "exceptions;" use them often enough and you will remember them. Analyze what type of learner you are: visual, audial, kinesthetic and then you will know what works best: color-coding, hearing or physically "walking" through them! MOST nouns ending in -o are masculine singular and MOST nouns ending in -a are feminine. Learn the exceptions, such as:

Nouns that en in -a that are masculine:
el clima, el día, el drama, el idioma, el mapa, el poeta, el problema, el programa, el telegrama, el tranvía

Some nouns that end in -o that are feminine: la mano, la radio

Nouns ending in -dad, -tad. -tud. -ión, -umbre, -le are generally feminine: la ciudad, la dificultad, la juventud, la unión, la certidumbre, la especie,& la gente

There are other concerns with gender and I'll be glad to give them to you, if and when you are ready! I merely don't want to "overwhelm" you!
