if 12.8g of NaCl is added to 243.2 mL of water (density (1.00g/mL)). the volume occupied by the solution is 250.0 mL. Calculate the density of the salt water.

  • Chemistry -

    Volfor nacl(solute)=v of solution - v of water(solvent
    =250.0 - 243.2
    = 6.80mL

    Density (salt )= mass/ volume
    =12.8/6.80
    =1.88 g/mL

  • Chemistry -

    density salt water = mass salt water/volume salt water.

    mass salt water = 243.2 + 12.8 = 256.0 g.
    volume salt solution = 250.0
    density = mass/volume = 256.0/250.0 = 1.02 g/mL

    1.99 is not right.
    22,342 is not right.

  • Chemistry -

    24.332

    I should have said 1.88 is not right.
    24.332 is not right either. If you want to show your work I'll find the error for you. You would need over 6000 grams NaCl in 250 cc solution to have a density of over 24.
