it is now 8:59am but when the bell rings at 9:00am Suzete will be late for Science class. She must get from one side of school down three different hallways. She runs down the first a distance of 35.0 m at a speed of 3.50m/s. The second haallway is filled with students and she covers its 48.0 m lenght at an average speed of 1.20m/s. The final hallway is empty and She sprigs its 60.0 m at a speed of 5.00m/s.

determine if shee makes it to calls on time by finding how many seconds she arrives before or after the bell????

  • Science -

    distance = rate x time
    35.0m = 3.50 m/s x time
    Solve for time

    Do the same for the other three halls and add the seconds (time) together to find total time. Add that to starting time to determine if she is early, on time, or late.
