I'm having difficulties writing a lead for my speech. My speech story will be on the Portage City Council and mayor candidates regarding the city's challenges over the next two years. All their answers were different.

My lead was going to simply be: Portage City Council and mayor candidates talked about the city’s biggest challenges over the next two years. I'd then continue on from there, but I know you're suppose to put what they said.. How do you incorporate various answers into a one sentence lead?

Choose one or two of what seem to be the most important answers. Money and the budget strikes me as most important.

thanks ms.sue I will rewrite and post back to see if you think my lead is efficient.

OK.

You're welcome, Blaze.

Crafting a compelling lead for your speech requires effectively summarizing the main points while engaging your audience. To incorporate the various answers from the Portage City Council and mayor candidates into a one-sentence lead, follow these steps:

1. Identify the main challenges: Review the answers given by the candidates and determine the most significant and common challenges mentioned. You can focus on a few key challenges to keep the lead concise.

2. Condense the answers: Try to condense the essence of each candidate's response into a single phrase or summary. Look for keywords or recurring themes that represent their views on the challenges.

3. Use a transitional phrase: Introduce the various answers by using a transitional phrase. This helps to indicate that multiple perspectives will follow in your speech.

4. Combine the information: Incorporate the condensed challenges and perspectives into a concise, engaging lead sentence.

Based on these steps, here's an example of a lead sentence that incorporates the candidates' answers:
"From a diverse range of perspectives, the Portage City Council and mayoral candidates highlighted the city's pressing challenges over the next two years, addressing issues such as economic revitalization, infrastructure development, community engagement, and fiscal sustainability."

Remember to tailor the lead to reflect the specific challenges and answers discussed by the candidates.
