To determine the boing point of a liquid, a student heats 10 mL of the liquid in a test tube and records the temperature every minute for 20 minutes. In this example, time is the what?

The choices are:
Independent variable
dependent variable
hypothesis
control

Is it dependent variable?

well does the temperature change because time passes,

or does time pass because the temperature changes?

Looks to me like the temperature depends on time, not the other way around.

SO, parsing my convoluted logic, which is independent?
