Give the reaction products of sodium borohydride (followed by water addition at the end of the reaction) with the following compounds:
a) Acetone
b) m-nitroacetophenone
c) 3-buten-2-one

    this test the concept of reacting metal hydride with the ketone. metal hydride reduces ketones.

    ketones are reduced to secondary alcohol

    adding water with the product (alcohol) can form carboxylic acid..
