solve 1/2 + 17/35 =

You can either change these to decimals or to fractions with a denominator of 70
1/2 = 35/70 = 0.5
17/35 = 34/70 = 0.4857
35/70 + 34/70 = 69/70
0.5 + 0.4857 = 0.9857
