What is the momentum of a 50 kg carton that slides at 2 m/s across an icy surface?

The sliding carton skids onto a rough surface and stops in 3 s. Calculate the force of friction it encounters.

• Science -

Momentum = m*V = 50 * 2 = 100.

a = (V-Vo)/t = (0-2)/3 = -0.667 m/s^2.
Fk = m*a = 50 * (-0.667) = -33.3 N.
