The owner of a pet store spent \$236 on 10 dogs and cats. The cats cost &18 each and the dogs cost &26 each. How many of each did the owner buy? Mrs. Sue Please help

add up the costs. If there are c cats, there are 10-c dogs, so

18c + 26(10-c) = 236
c = 3
