I have a question about how to plug in numbers on my calculator (TI-30XIIS) to get an answer. How would I put in my calculator...

ln 1.00X 10-2 mol/L /1.65 X 10-2 mol/L

to get-0.501? I keep getting the wrong answer...

I don't know how the Ti-30 looks but I suspect you're having trouble with the exponents. So don't use them until you learn how. In the meantime you can do this.

Punch in .01 and divide by .0165 (in the usual manner) then hit the ln key. That will give you -0.50078.

Thank you, sir. However, I stillmust be doing something wrong because I am not getting the answer. My calculator will give me an error if I do it that way. On my TI-30 I punch in 2nd button, the hit Ln, then (1.00 X 10-2 / 1.65 X 10-2) and get 1.83...

I think you need to reverse that procedure. Punch in the numbers FIRST to get 0.606, then to the ln bit.

To plug in the expression "ln(1.00 x 10^(-2) mol/L / 1.65 x 10^(-2) mol/L)" into your TI-30XIIS calculator correctly, you need to use the appropriate buttons and understand the order of operations. Here's the step-by-step process:

1. Press the "ln" button on your calculator. This function allows you to find the natural logarithm of a number.

2. Next, enter the numerator: "1.00", followed by the multiplication symbol "*". Then, input "10", followed by the exponent symbol "EE" or "EXP", and enter "-2". This will correctly represent 1.00 x 10^(-2).

3. To indicate division, use the division symbol "/".

4. Now, input the denominator: "1.65", followed by "*", and then enter "10", followed by the exponent symbol "EE" or "EXP", and input "-2" to represent 1.65 x 10^(-2).

5. Lastly, press the "=" button to calculate the result.

If you follow these steps correctly, you should obtain the answer of -0.501.

It's important to note that entering the numbers and operations in the correct order is crucial to obtain the desired result. Additionally, make sure to use the correct function (in this case "ln") and pay attention to parentheses if they are part of the expression.
