A fiery ball of wood is loaded into a medieval catapult to be thrown into a castle. Unfortunately, the attacking heathens are not very smart and since geometry and physics were not studied in their time, they launched the ball straight up into the air. The catapult launcher sits 2.0 m above the ground and the ball reaches a height of 67m down to the bay water. What speed does it hit the water with?

    mgh = mv²/2
    v=sqrt(2gh) =
    =sqrt(2•g•67) = 36.24 m/s
