Q) Hasan buys two kinds of cloth materials for school uniforms, shirt material costs him Rs 50 per metre and trouser materia l costs him Rs 90 per meter. For every 2 meters of the trouser material he buys 3 meters of shirt material. He sells that material at12% and 10% profit respectively. His total sale is Rs36,660. How much trouser material did he buy?

• Math -

profit on shirt material: 10% of 50 = 5.00/meter
profit on trouser: 12% of 90 = 10.8/meter

If he buys s meters of shirt, t meters of trouser, then

2s = 3t
1.10s + 1.12t = 36660

Hmmm. I expected to get integer values, but did not. Better check my math and the problem.

Let measure of shirt material be 3x and measure of grouse be 2x.
Cost of 3xm shirt material= 3x×50=150x
Cost of 2xm grouse material= 2x×90=180×
Selling price of the shirt material=150x×112/100
Selling price of the trouser material=180x×110/100
Total selling price=150×112/100+180x×110/100=36600=366x=36600/360=100
