Cindy has 34 meters of fencing. She plans to build a rectangular dog run that is 2 meters wide. How long can the dog run be?

  • algebra -

    L = Length

    W = Width

    The perimeter of a rectangle

    P = 2 L + 2 W

    In this case W = 2 m

    P = 34 m

    34 = 2 L + 2 * 2

    34 = 2 L + 4 Subtract 4 for both sides

    34 - 4 = 2 L + 4 - 4

    30 = 2 L Divide both sides by 2

    15 = L

    L = 15 m

    13
