Factor the following expression completely: 9x^4-81y^2

  • Intermediate algebra -

    a^2-b^2 = (a+b)(a-b)

    first, factor out the 9 to get

    9(x^4 - 9y^2)
    9(x^2+3y)(x^2-3y)
