a trip of 120 miles required 7 gallons of gas. at this rate how many gallons would be needed at 180?

let x = gallons needed
120 : 7 = 180 : x , or
120/7 = 180/x
x/7 = 180/120
x = 7*3/2
x = 10.5 gallons
