A bomb is dropped from a height of 40m.simultaneously and vertically below it,a second bomb is fired vertically with a velocity of 20m/s.At what distance from the ground do they collide

  • physics -

    (1) Write equations for the height of each bomb vs t,
    (2) Set then equal and solve for t.
    (3) Use that t and either height equation to solve for location

    Y1 = 40 -4.9 t^2
    Y2 = 20t - 4.9 t^2

    Y1 = Y2 when t = 2 seconds

    Solve for either Y.
