find the lateral area of a right prism whose altitude measures 20 cm and whose base is a square with a width 7 cm long.

  • math -

Many authors define lateral surface area as the total area but not including any of the bases.
So depending on how your text has defined it,
lateral surface area = 4 times the area of the 4 rectangles
    = 4(7)(20) = 560 cm^2
