surface area of a room 11’ x 14’ 5” x 8’ 10”

A = LW

Find the area of each wall. Then find the area of the ceiling and floor. Add together to get the total surface area.

I'll be glad to check your answer.

4 x 8'10" = 32' 4" Walls

11' x 2 = 22' floor and ceiling
54' 4" is total surface area
I do not understand how to do this at all.
Four walls are 8' 10" tall
Two are are 14' 5" wide
Two are 11' wide
The ceiling and floor are 11' by 14' 5"
Please assist me.
Thank you
Carole

Ms. Sue:

Thank you for attempting to assist me but if I could figure out the area of anything I could and would answer my own question.
Thanks Carole

Two walls are 8'10" by 14'5".

A = L times W
A = (8 10/12) * (14 5/12)
A = 112 50/24 = 114 1/12 square feet

Two walls = (114 1/12) * 2 = 228 1/6 square feet

Try the same method for the other two walls and the floor and ceiling.

Thank you Ms. Sue, I will try to do it now.

Carole
