Can you solve for a variable in an expression?

not sure if I'm doing this right
3x + 4=13
3x=9
x=3

You are correct!

Hi Ms. Sue,

Thank you so much you helped me once before with my troubles and I'm thankful that you were able to assist me through this once again. (*SMILE*)

You're very welcome. :-)

Is this done right?

to have a solution but both sides of the equal sign must be the same. An example would be 2-x=1. You subtract the 1 from each side, (2-1)= (1-1), making x=1. Plug it back in 2-1=1. The 2-1 equals 1 which is the same number on the other side of the equal sign.

Yes, you're right.

thank you :)

You're welcome.
