is this correct? 19 - 8 < 12 would the number 8 make this number sentence true?

    Yes it would make it true. It is saying 19 - 8 is less than 12. So then you can simply do the math, and you come out with 11 is less than 12. Which is a true statement.
    19 - 8 < 12
    11 < 12
