I forgot to include the following sentences. I hope you can have a look at them as well.
1)Chaucer describes his appearance and profession. The merchant is a representative of the new emerging middle class in English medieval society.
2) Chaucer also wants to show how profession conditioned the individual’s behavior.
3) The merchant had a forked beard. He wore a motley dress, a Flemish beaver hat and daintily buckled boots. He sat high when riding.
4) He told his opinions in solemn tones. He was expert at dabbling in exchanges, stately in administration.
They all sound fine.
