2) It opens on a Wednesday early in June 1923, as Clarissa Dalloway, the (a?) 51-year-old wife of a Conservative MP, leaves home and walk up Bond Street to buy some flowers for the party she has organized for the evening.
3) While she is in the flower shop, a car drives noisily past. Her attention shifts (?) to the street, where Septimus and Lucrezia Warren Smith are walking.
4) Septimus is an estate agent’s clerk and shell-shocked war veteran whereas Lucrezia is an Italian girl.
5) He has been treated for his mental disorder(s) first by the “rational” Dr. Holmes, who understands nothing of (about) his pain and later by Sir William Bradshaw, an insensitive nerve specialist.
6) After buying the flowers, Clarissa drives back home where she receives the unexpected visit from Peter Walsh, the man she used to love in her youth. 7) He has just returned (?) after a period in India.
