what does 9 over 18 and 10 over 34 means?

  • 4th grade -

    These are fractions.

    9/18 means 9 parts of 18

If you have 18 students in a classroom, and 9 are girls, then you have the fraction 9/18. This can be simplified to 1/2. Half the students are girls.

    How would you describe 10/34?
