you finish a twomile walking race in 36.5 minutes. Write an inequality for the average speed of the walkers who finish after you did. (Average speed= distance/time)

Average speed= distance/time
=2 miles / 36.5 minutes
= 2/(36.5/60) miles per hour
Your only have to convert the equality to an inequality according to the facts, namely those who arrive afterwards will take more time, i.e. the denominator will get bigger. 
Your average speed is 3.288 miles/hr
For those slower than you,
Vav < 3.288 miles/hr
