please give idea of how compare and contrast figurative language and themes in the poems "mother to son" and "courage".

To find the "theme" of a poem look first at the last verse. The poet often will make the main point there. The last two lines of verses also holds clues to the main idea.

You will need to find the figurative language first, then you can compare.

i think i'll compare/contrast the characters. in "mother to son" the character is a mother who is telling her son about her hardships. in "courage" there are many characters involved at different stages of life which a person undergoes.
    am i doing right?
