How can I plan to foster hope from the present time period?

    Read history. People had hope during the Dark Ages, the Medieval plagues, and through many devastating wars.

    Think about the opening line of Charles Dickens' A Tale or Two Cities: "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times."

    We live in the greatest democracy the world has ever known. We can cure or ameliorate diseases that were deadly a hundred years ago. Our technology promises a great future.

    What is there about the present time period that doesn't foster hope?
