How much force is needed to accelerate a 50-kg rider and her 250-kg motorcycle at 5 m/s2?

1. drwls

(total mass) x (acceleration)
= 300 kg x 5 m/s^2 = 1500 Newtons

(That's roughly 330 pounds, for people like me who don't have a clue what a Newton feels like)
